Q1-2: Who owns the home energy usage data? Should individual consumers and their authorized third-party service providers have the right to access energy usage data directly from the meter?
The meter should provide current consumption. Utilities may want to provide services to obtain historic consumption over the Internet, but not through the meter. Any third-party access needs to be at the opt-in direction of the customer.
Q3: Third party service providers should make arrangements with building owners; the grid architecture need not and should not be burdened by them.
